Role

Lead Technical Audio Designer
Lead Systems Programmer

I was part of a three man team doing a complete audio redesign and gameplay modification for this VFS student game as one of our final projects. I was in charge of audio implementation, UI/UX sound design, and most of the new gameplay systems programming. The project was done in Unity, with Wwise being used as the audio middleware.

Features such as music dynamically changing with the biome or boss the player is currently facing were not present in the original build we were given, and were as such built from scratch by me. A major feature I was in charge of was the creation of three brand new characters: Alessa, Magnus, and Sabrina. This doubled the playable roster of characters, and accordingly also increased our workload. I was also in charge of refactoring all existing audio pipeline implementation to allow for more efficient implementation for the entire team.

A major challenge we as a team faced as a team caused by this increased work was that our artist who was hired externally was unable to complete the promised assets, leaving certain assets in the build incomplete. As this was a student project on a strict deadline, and us realizing as a team that we would not be able to finish that part to the standard we wanted, we decided to turn our attention to the aspects of the game we knew we could improve, and accepted that as a student project, something like this would have to be accepted to ensure we could finish everything else and polish it to the standard we wanted.
